Cursu pennigeros celeri similabo volucres.
Nunc fera sum, maculis furvi stellata coloris,
Nunc fluvius, rapido dicendus valde meatu.
Nomine nimpe meo Persi dixere “sagittam.”
Translation:
In my swift course I resemble winged birds.
Now I am a wild beast, starred with marks of a dark colour,
Now a river, named for its very rapid passage.
Indeed, the Persians said “arrow” by my name.
On the beast “tiger”
